Swizz Style F-007 Fred Humidifier, Red Review

The company sent the humidifier very quickly and in good condition. It is a funny looking thing. Reminds me of a red spaceship. It will get noticed in your home by friends. It's so different looking then the standard humidifier.
This works like a teakettle blowing a medium or low amount of steam depending on the setting you choose. It is very quiet. During the day with TV volume and conversation you can't hear anything. At night when it's quit you can hear the water boiling but it is not loud enough to be annoying. Best there are no extra filters needed and all it takes is a weekly cleaning to remove the lime buildup.
The unit itself stays cool to the touch during use but the flow of steam is hot right where it comes out so you will need to use caution with very young children. This unit stands very securely; I feel it would take a pretty hard hit to knock it over. Also the water is in a separate container inside.
The instructions do not say the area this humidifier humidifies nor the amount of time it takes to empty the water tank. On low my empties in about 8-10 hours. The electricity used is 200w for low and 300w for high setting. The low setting works well for me. It has auto shut off when the water runs out.
I have this product for about three weeks. It is very easy to add water to. It is also easy to do the weekly cleaning. It does not leak or leave any kind of water stains during use.
One problem with the unit is that it is made out of plastic. The nozzle through which the steam comes out of is plastic painted with silver paint. The paint started to bubble near the top inner part of the nozzle on my humidifier. If the bubbles break it will not look so great. That is why I'm giving this product 4 stars instead of five.
There are almost no reviews on the web about this product. I believe it sells in red, silver, black and a lime color. If you like the unique shape don't be afraid to give it a try.

Hemosense INR & PT INRatio Meter Review

My monitor is a bit older than the one pictured here; I got it in 2004. It still works perfectly and although I haven't used it in several months, I did use it nearly every week for the better part of 6 years. I calibrated it annually and the difference between lab and my INRatio was negligible when there was a difference.

As far as use of the machine goes, it's quite easy and was a relief to the veins in my arms. Mine came with a lancet pen and after a few tries, doing the finger poke became quite easy. You have to get the "hanging drop"
to land on the large spot on the slide. I've used the Roche Coaguchek where the blood gets pulled into the slide and this one works differently (and in my opinion, more easily, especially if your hands are at all unsteady). It is not difficult to get the drop to fall in the right place; at least it never has been for me. The landing spot is good sized.

From the time you tear open the strip, you have about 10 minutes to perform your test. With the lancet loaded into the pen ahead of time, you probably won't need more than a minute or two and less after you've done it a few times. So take your time getting the hanging drop to fall accurately; you really don't need to hurry.

This system isn't cheap. Neither are the supplies. I was lucky in that my insurance (after many appeals forms filed by myself and my hematologist) covered the cost. Initially, I was told that only heart valve patients are eligible for coverage of an INR monitor but after the paperwork was done, they covered it. But knowing what I know now, I would pay out of pocket if I had to. This machine made life on coumadin so much less complicated.

I'm an average biker -- 18 mph -- and not training for any races right now.

I've been using my CS200cad for about 18 months now and still like it as much as when I bought it.
When it breaks, I'll buy another one. Note that the price of this unit has not come down in 18 months! This is quite unusual and prob'ly speaks to the demand for this specific set of features. I disagree with the reviewer who said that it should provide bar graphs or record more than simple averages; I've just been copying the stat's to an Excel spreadsheet anyway and so I don't really need that on a tiny display.

What makes this unit different is the dual wireless (wheel speed & cadence) and so there's really no wires, but there's 2 extra batteries to maintain due to that (3 total). Pay attention to the cost to replace these batteries and find a cheap source for them. The backlight *eats* batteries, but it's really nice and bright.

The heart rate strap is good but the contacts need to be wet. It is quite comfortable in all positions and does not pinch. There is a particular building with lots of satellite dishes when the heart rate goes from zero to 230 and back repeatedly, so I'm guessing this is a wireless transmission failure.

It's easy to take the monitor off the bike quickly by a simple twist so you can take it with you when you lock up your bike OR to move it to say, between 2 bikes (buy a second mount for the other bike; it keeps the bikes' stat's separately).

I mostly bought it because I wanted to increase my cadence while keeping heart rate in zone, and it did just that: I went from 60 to 70 on the long rides. I like that it's got 6 different displays and one of them is always what I want to see, so those are well-designed. Compare this to my db unit that displays half it's numbers at the same time on a slightly larger display, and has one other mode to see all the other numbers, but I find myself getting a bit confused because all the numbers are the same size. I've seen more advanced DB displays that color-code numbers and change their sizes throughout the display, but those have wires.

It beeps when I'm out of zone, which is a little annoying to fellow bicyclists during warm up (below min rate) but is really good in a pace line on steep hills because the guy behind me can hear my beeps to know when I'm about to slow (before the hand signals). Another pace line goodie is that it tells when the instantanious speed is above or below the average, so if you're trying to keep a pace line at a constant speed you just look for the arrow and don't have to "do math under stress". It can take 10-20 seconds to acquire the heart signal.

The 3 button design is fairly clear for a unit of this type. Some commonplace settings may require 5-10 button presses to find and enable, so you'd want to avoid doing that while on the bike. All of the things I need to do on the bike are much more simple. They really thought out the usage of the buttons.

It's also tough: I flipped over my handlebars and hit the computer with full force and it's just a little scratched but still works fine.
