Im an ironman, and have competed in athletics for my entire life. Every once in a while, someone comes along with a truly innovative product that changes things... this is one of them. I set mine up for both training, and racing. But it also works if you just want to stay on track to lose weight...
Basically, the unit talks to you (tells you your heart rate, speed, cadence, and pace, as well as power on a bike) at a set interval. i have mine set for every 3 minutes. In addition, it has 7 LED's that you can set to multiple colors. This way, the unit "guides" you to your target. like a stop light... Red is bad... green is good, yellow and orange are somewhere in between. So... if you're trying to stay in your weight loss zone, the unit will tell you if you're over, under, or "just right" :-) makes it VERY simple for the user.

The other major advantage is safety. As its all right in front of you, and you hear it, you NEVER have to look at a wrist watch... So for me, i have a hard time in certain conditions seeing the numbers on my watch... so this device really helps. Also, since you don't have to look at your watch, you never have to take your eyes off the road. Subsequently... you're always seeing whats in front of you... so you'll never miss that door that suddenly opens in front of you while on the bike, or miss that curb while running, rollerblading etc...
