Panasonic TY-LA1001 TV Lamp with cage assembly with Original Osram P-VIP Bulb Review

I received the lamp on Wednesday and when I pulled it out of the box it was heavier than the cheap ones I have bought in the past. I could definitely feel the quality of the product. Even the plastic housing feels stronger. I inspected the lamp but I didn't find OSRAM on it anywhere. The install was just a tiny bit tricky. If you bought one of the cheap ones you'll notice that there is a plastic lock arm on the back of the lock knob, not on this one it is a metal arm. That metal arm is tough, when I tried to lock the lamp into place it wouldn't. I had to pull it out and bend the arm out just a tiny bit with a flat head screwdriver. After the adjustment it locked into place perfectly. When I turned on the TV it took a few extra minutes to initially start up because it was sensing the new lamp (be patient I almost freaked out) but the TV reset and the picture came on. It looks amazing, I can see depth in my picture that I haven't seen in a long time. The picture is crisp and I can see it from a very wide range of angles. Also, there was an odor from the new lamp which lasted about two days for me.

Only time will tell if it is worth the price. It's Saturday now and it is still going strong.

I haven't had it for long but so far so good!
RECOMMENED? Right now yes. It needs to last longer than 18 months, otherwise it's an expensive piece of junk.
